good run today

last long run before next weeks 1/2 marathon

So much for an easy run. My plan was to do 2 easy 5 mile runs on Tuesday and Thursday as I get ready for Sundays half. I felt so good early in the run that I finished the last 5 miles at race pace. I'm not sure if this was a good or bad thing to do. I do know that I can't do this on my Thursday run. The last thing I want to do is go into the race with tired legs.

I would be interested in hearing what kind of training people do the week before a marathon or half.

I just missed my goal of sub 1:36 but I still finished the Gasparilla half in a new PR of 1:37:15. I had something left at the end but Iâm not sure it was enough to have run 1:15 faster. I still have a long way to go but when I set a PR after almost every race I know Iâm doing something right.

Overall it was another well run race. The start temp was in the low 50âs which is about perfect for me. There was a little headwind when running north on Bayshore to the finish but it probably didnât affect my time more than a few seconds.

I'm starting my 5k training now. 2 days after my half marathon and the legs felt great. I ran 2.5 of my 4.5 at 5k pace.
